Lawra: The Students Holistic Educational Empowerment Par-Excellence (SHEEP), a non-governmental organisation operating in the Upper West Region, has extended support to brilliant but needy students in the area to help them pursue their academic aspirations.
According to Ghana News Agency, the support package included essential educational materials such as textbooks, mathematical sets, calculators, exercise books, pens, and pencils. This initiative, targeting six Senior High Schools (SHS) and 15 Junior High Schools (JHS) in the region, aims to promote academic excellence while instilling good moral values and health education among students.
In an interview in Lawra, Mr. David Angkaarama, Founder and CEO of SHEEP, explained that the gesture is intended to support brilliant but needy students in achieving their educational goals, thereby empowering them to become agents of change within their communities. The initiative, also carried out in the Sissala East and Sissala West districts, seeks to alleviate the financial burden on parents striving to support their children's education.
The project, themed 'Empowering students to become agents of positive change in their communities, provide support to brilliant but needy students in the Lawra Municipality', underscores the NGO's commitment to a holistic approach in identifying and addressing students' needs. Mr. Angkaarama emphasized the organization's dedication to reducing the educational burden on families and encouraged additional donor support to reach more vulnerable students.
He advised students to avoid irresponsible behavior, focus on their education, and seize every positive opportunity available in their schools and communities. Mr. Angkaarama also urged students to respect and appreciate their parents and teachers.
Mr. Williams Ganir Wononuo, the Board Chairman of SHEEP, motivated students to remain focused, avoid negative social influences, and strive to become valuable contributors to the country's economic growth. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the NGO for alleviating their financial burdens and called on other philanthropists to support the cause in the region and beyond.
