NEDCo Rallies Public Support to Tackle Meter Theft, Illegal Connections

Sunyani: Mr Eugene Odoi Addo, the Sunyani Area Manager of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has appealed to the public to help the company tackle illegal connections and meter theft to sustain their operations.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Addo stated that meter theft and illegal connections undermined system efficiency and revenue mobilization. The company's commercial losses increased from 22 percent in 2023 to 23 percent in 2024. He made these remarks while interacting with a section of the media in Sunyani ahead of phase seven of NEDCo's revenue mobilization and loss control exercise, which is set to begin on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Mr Addo emphasized that illegal connection and meter theft are serious offenses, and warned that perpetrators would be prosecuted accordingly. He called on the public to join efforts in curbing these practices. The two-week exercise aligns with NEDCo's ongoing efforts to recover outstanding payments and combat illegal activities that threaten the company's operations and financial stability. The Sunyani Area Office aims to recover a GHS20 million debt during this initiative.

He revealed that the area currently has a total outstanding debt of GHS120 million. Mr Addo urged customers to settle their debts, noting that those who fail to comply would face disconnection and prosecution.
