NCCE Partners with Sunyani Municipal Assembly for Environmental Clean-Up Initiative

Sunyani: The Sunyani Municipal Assembly organized a significant clean-up exercise over the weekend, aiming to enhance environmental sanitation and waste management across the Municipality.

According to Ghana News Agency, the clean-up was part of the activities to commemorate the 2025 Constitution Week, with the Sunyani Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) collaborating with the Assembly to facilitate the event. The Sunyani Central Business District enclave became the focal point as traditional authorities, security agencies, traders, and the public participated in the five-hour clean-up.

Participants engaged in clearing clogged gutters, collecting plastic waste, and sweeping the surrounding areas. Business operations were temporarily halted as shop and store owners, along with major business entities, were required to remain closed between 0600 hours and 1000 hours.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Benjamin Kyere, the Sunyani Municipal Director of the NCCE, emphasized the importance of environmental cleanliness for maintaining good health. He highlighted that promoting cleanliness is crucial to preventing communicable diseases and improving the community's overall health status.

Mr. Kyere called on residents to be proactive in maintaining a clean environment by avoiding littering, planting trees, conserving water bodies, and protecting the environment from degradation and pollution.
