Kadjebi: The Kadjebi District Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), supported by the Kadjebi District Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Akan Constituency, has distributed roofing sheets to several schools in the area. This initiative aims to aid the Yadzo D/A Junior High School, Kordibenu E. P Primary, and Kpalime Kofe Kindergarten School in re-roofing their school blocks, which were previously damaged by strong winds.
According to Ghana News Agency, during the handover of the roofing sheets to Yadzo D/A JHS in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region, Mr. Reuben Kemavor, the Kadjebi District Director of NADMO, urged the School Management Committee and Parent Teacher Association of the beneficiary schools to contribute nails and other necessary roofing materials. This collaboration is crucial for the effective re-roofing of the schools.
Mr. Kemavor also advised the school management to plant trees around the school blocks to act as windbreaks, providing additional protection for the structures. Dr. Sam Issaka Suraj, the Kadjebi District Chief Executive, who was also present, encouraged parents to fulfill their responsibilities by providing essential items such as exercise books, school uniforms, and footwear for their children, highlighting that the government alone cannot meet all educational needs.
The management of the schools expressed their gratitude for the distribution, acknowledging that it was a much-needed support for their institutions.
