Muslimah Mentorship Network Educates Madina Schoolgirls on Health and Hygiene

Madina: The Muslimah Mentorship Network (MMN), a not-for-profit organization of Muslim women professionals, has engaged female students of Abubakari Siddiq Islamic School in Madina on women's health, hygiene, and personal development. The outreach, held over the weekend, formed part of the Network's monthly mentorship activities aimed at empowering young people through guidance on life choices, education, and social well-being.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Hasana Bambara, a member of the organization, encouraged the students to understand and embrace their menstrual cycle without shame. She emphasized the importance of good menstrual hygiene, which includes regular bathing and frequent changing of sanitary pads. Ms. Bambara also demonstrated how to correctly use and dispose of sanitary pads. Addressing the issue of sexual harassment, she urged the girls to speak up when their sexual rights are violated, encouraging them to report inappropriate behavior at home, school, or elsewhere.

On the topic of education, Miss Nuratu Banse of the Network encouraged the students to prioritize their academic pursuits. She pointed out that the pursuit of knowledge aligns with Islamic teachings and contributes significantly to both individual growth and societal advancement. The outreach also included a session on sustaining learning through life's challenges, where Madam Sirina Manan highlighted the importance of time management, peer collaboration, and self-directed learning. She explained that these strategies enhance academic performance, encourage well-rounded development, increase creativity, and strengthen decision-making skills.

Members of the MMN travel across the country to empower young people on issues such as sexual health, education, and self-confidence. The Network's mission is to guide young Muslim girls toward becoming better individuals through higher education, successful careers, and the practice of exemplary Islamic values.
