Accra: Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed profound regret over the death of Mr. Ernest Yaw Kumi, Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the former President shared his condolences in a Facebook post, stating, "The legislator was adored and loved by party faithful and cherished by all who knew or shared acquaintances with him." He extended his deepest sympathies to Mr. Kumi's family, the Parliament, and the people of Akwatia Constituency, acknowledging the difficult time they are facing.
Mr. Kumi was reported to have passed on July 7, 2025. Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin confirmed the death during Monday's parliamentary session through an official communication on the floor of the House. In memory of the late legislator, Parliament observed a minute of silence.
