Mid-Year Budget Presentation Scheduled for July 24, Says Dafeamekpor

Accra: The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, is set to present the Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 24. This announcement was made by Majority Chief Whip, Mr. Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwame Dafeamekpor, during the parliamentary proceedings presided over by Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, the First Deputy Speaker.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Dafeamekpor confirmed the upcoming presentation in response to a request by Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Minority Chief Whip, who urged the Finance Minister to appear before Parliament to deliver the mid-year budget. The Mid-Year Budget Review is a requirement under Section 28 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

President John Dramani Mahama has indicated that the Mid-Year Budget is anticipated to deliver positive developments for Ghanaians, with significant economic updates expected in August. Earlier this year, on March 11, 2025, Dr. Forson presented the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament, under the theme: 'Resetting Ghana for the Economy We Want.'

The 2025 budget emphasized growth, development, and opportunity, with strategic investments in sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and job creation. Key budget highlights included efforts toward economic stabilization by reducing domestic borrowing and government expenditure, job creation through industrial growth and social welfare initiatives, and prioritizing infrastructure projects under the Big Push Infrastructure Programme, focusing particularly on national infrastructure projects in the road sector.
