Dambai: A man known as Mr. Emmanuel Addai has allegedly bitten off his wife's ear in a disturbing incident of domestic violence in the Wonkayaw community of Dambai township, within the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region. The victim, Madam Cecilia Fordjour, reported that she was attacked by her husband during a violent altercation.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Fordjour, 46, recounted that the incident occurred after she prepared food for the family and was spending time with her children. Her husband returned from a funeral and, without any apparent provocation, demanded that she leave the house immediately. This demand was made just as she was preparing to serve him food. The situation escalated, leading to an alleged attack in which Mr. Addai bit off her ear.
Madam Fordjour sought medical attention at a private health facility, KOPAH Clinic, with her severed ear. However, medical officials informed her that reattachment was unlikely due to the delay in seeking treatment, rendering the ear unsalvageable. The incident was subsequently reported to the Krachi East Police Command, where an investigation is now underway.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Al-hassan Abdu-Rzak, the Divisional Crime Officer of Dambai Command, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency. He stated that both the woman and her husband lodged complaints at the station, with the husband alleging that he was beaten. Medical forms have been issued to both parties, and the investigation will commence once they are discharged from the hospital.
ASP Abdul-Razak mentioned that the police would review the medical reports and gather additional evidence to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation aims to uncover the truth behind the violent altercation and determine any necessary legal actions.
