Man, 32, Arrested for Stealing and Property Destruction in Sunyani

Sunyani: The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man for alleged stealing and destruction of property. The suspect, Sulemana Adams, allegedly broke into a Toyota Highlander belonging to a staff member of the Sunyani Municipal Hospital and made away with an HP laptop computer, GHS11,000, £80, as well as unspecified amounts of Kenyan Shillings and South African Rands. Additional items stolen included a power bank and an external hard drive.

According to Ghana News Agency, a police statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, detailed that the suspect, popularly known as 'Zambia,' smashed the rear door glass of the vehicle parked at the victim's residence in Baakoniaba, Sunyani Municipality. The incident occurred on August 10, 2025, and Adams was apprehended on August 12, 2025, at Kuotokom, a Sunyani suburb.

The statement further revealed that acting on intelligence, the police placed Adams under 24-hour surveillance, which culminated in his arrest during an undercover operation by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate. During police interrogations, Adams admitted to the crime, leading to the recovery of the HP laptop, GHS10,710, £10, $32, CFA2,000 cash, and some foreign currencies in coins, along with the external hard drive and power bank.

The police have stated that investigations are ongoing as they prepare to arraign the suspect before court.
