Accra: Mr Samuel Kwashie Tawiah, Presiding Member of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly (LeKMA), has urged residents to take responsibility for beautifying their surroundings before, during, and after the 2025 Teshie Homowo Festival. He made the appeal during a clean-up and whitewashing exercise organised by the Assembly in the Akro West and Akro East Electoral Areas in preparation for the festival.
According to Ghana News Agency, the exercise drew active participation from key stakeholders, including Mr Charles Ashie Kotey, Chairman of the Sanitation and Environmental Health Sub-Committee and Assembly Member for Agblezaa, as well as Awula Anita Ayorkor Adjetey, the Municipal Culture Officer. Mr Tawiah explained that the initiative was aimed at ensuring environmental cleanliness and enhancing the aesthetics of the township to provide a more pleasant festival experience for residents and visitors.
He urged community members to continue similar efforts in their neighbourhoods, stressing that maintaining a clean and beautiful environment is a shared responsibility. Mr Ashie Kotey noted that the clean-up exercise formed part of the Assembly's broader efforts to promote good sanitation practices across the municipality, beyond festive periods. He added that more clean-up campaigns would follow as part of LeKMA's commitment to ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
