Kadjebi Residents Hail Kwadwo Gyapong’s Nomination as Oti Regional Minister

Kadjebi: Kadjebi residents have welcomed the nomination of Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong as the Oti Regional Minister-designate. They described the former Member of Parliament for the area's nomination as politically correct and appropriate due to his political maturity and dedication to party work.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Joseph Kwadwo Ofori, former MP for Akan, expressed that Mr. Gyapong deserves the nomination because he has served the Party since 1992 and has risen through its ranks. Mr. Gyapong was the former Volta Regional Chairperson for the National Democratic Congress and continued in the Oti Region when it was separated from the parent region in 2018. He successfully won all the Parliamentary Seats for the NDC in the 2020 and 2024 elections.

Mr. Ofori noted that despite Mr. Gyapong's old age, he actively visited all the Constituencies to canvass for votes for the Party during the 2024 election campaign. Mr. Frank Seth Alifui, former District Chief Executive for Kadjebi, also remarked on the nomination, stating that Mr. Gyapong is qualified for the role and performed well as Regional Chair. Although he believed Mr. Gyapong should be appointed as a Sector Minister, he acknowledged that the position of Regional Minister is also fitting.

Mr. Emmanuel Klu, Director of Elections for the NDC in the Akan Constituency, described Gyapong's nomination as good news for the Akan Constituency, expressing satisfaction that their efforts have been recognized by the Party. Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, a native of Kadjebi, served as MP for Akan from 1992-2000 and 2005-2008. A letter from the Presidency Communications dated January 14, 2025, announced that President Mahama has nominated him as one of the first batch of Regional Ministers. Mr. Gyapong is a Business Executive and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Cape Coast.
