Sunyani: INNORIGHTS Ghana, a child rights non-governmental organization, has urged the United Nations (UN) and regional blocks to engage in inclusive negotiations to protect the lives and dignity of children as the Israel-Iran conflict escalates.
According to Ghana News Agency, INNORIGHTS Ghana is dedicated to promoting the welfare and rights of vulnerable children worldwide. In a statement issued and signed by Mr. Peter Boateng, the Executive Officer of INNORIGHTS Ghana, the organization called on the UN and regional bodies to ensure the protection of innocent children and uphold international humanitarian laws.
The statement, made available to the Ghana News Agency, emphasized the importance of creating a peaceful world where children can learn and grow without fear or disruption. It urged global leaders to pursue wisdom, respect for human dignity, and dialogue over war and domination.
As tensions rise with recent airstrikes by the United States on Iran and a call for diplomacy by the UN Secretary-General, INNORIGHTS Ghana has added its voice to the global appeal for restraint and reconciliation. The organization expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in the Middle East, which threatens to destabilize regions, displace millions, and exacerbate the trauma experienced by refugees and migrants.
The statement highlighted that the ongoing conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the US-China trade war, have far-reaching impacts that transcend borders and threaten global peace and progress. It noted that Africa is not immune to these effects, as they could strain economies, deepen insecurity, and disrupt livelihoods across the continent.
In conclusion, INNORIGHTS Ghana called on global powers and international institutions to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy over destruction and militarization, asserting that true peace can only be achieved through diplomatic leadership.
