Nkoranza: A total of 32 female candidates are vying for unit committee representations in the upcoming District Level Elections (DLEs) in the Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South in the Bono East Region. Dr Gabriel Dei Yeboah, the Bono East Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Yeboah noted that the figure represented 13 percent of the total number of 241 candidates participating in the Unit Committee Elections. The EC has announced the arrangement of campaign platforms for the candidates, allowing them to engage their respective constituents and present their manifestoes and visions. These events are scheduled between Friday, May 9, and Sunday, May 11, 2025.
The campaign aims to help the electorate make informed decisions and vote for their preferred candidates when they head to the polls on Tuesday, May 13. Dr Yeboah highlighted that 190 candidates, including 176 males and 14 females, are contesting the elections in Nkoranza North, which consists of 26 Electoral Areas.
He further mentioned that a total of 209 candidates, comprising 191 males and 18 females, are competing in the elections in Nkoranza South, which has 29 Electoral Areas. Dr Yeboah confirmed that the campaigns, which began on Friday, May 9, are progressing well and have been successfully conducted in some of the Electoral Areas.
