Accra: A large crowd of sympathizers, families, and friends have bid farewell to Madam Dorcas Korkor Afi Tettey, the owner of the popular restaurant, 'The Base,' who was allegedly killed by unknown assailants at Kportorgboe, a suburb of Anloga in the Volta Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the funeral, which was held at the deceased's residence, was a sober occasion with many mourners weeping uncontrollably over the sudden demise of the deceased. Her untimely death occurred on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at about 0130 hours after some thieves allegedly broke into her house, strangled her, and made away with some valuable items.
Mr. Edwin Vedzi, the Assembly Member of the area, in an earlier interview, revealed that further information suggested that the unknown assailants might be from the area. 'The news of Madam Tettey's death has sent a shockwave through the community with many describing the situation as worse and needed immediate attention and investigation by authorities to arrest the culprits,' he said. He also urged the public to remain calm and assist the police in their investigation to unravel the death of their beloved daughter and mother.
The family of the deceased, in response to the tragedy, have announced their engagement with thunder gods 'Togbi Zakadza' at Nogokpo to unveil the perpetrator behind the crime. GNA also gathered that the family has obtained permission from Togbi Zewu IV, 'Dufia' of Anloga and 'Dome Fiaga' of Anlo State for the announcement through gong-gong beating in and around Anloga to allow the culprits and urged them to reveal themselves, or allow the Yewe Shrine of Nogokpo to intervene and help uncover the identity of the brutal murderers if they failed to comply.
The Police at Anloga have since commenced investigation into the barbaric killing of the deceased and are yet to apprehend any culprit in connection with the act. Madam Tettey died at age 54 and left behind three children, which include Kofi Ameamu, Bright Dovlo, and Edem Kugblenu with six other granddaughters behind. The family still believed that with the consultation made to the Nogokpo deities, all the unknown assailants would be revealed as soon as possible to face the consequences of the crime committed.
