Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council Reschedules Ada East DCE Confirmation

Ada: The Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) has rescheduled the confirmation of the President's nominee for Ada East District Chief Executive to Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

According to Ghana News Agency, the RCC issued a statement signed by Madam Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, revealing that an election was held on Wednesday, May 8, 2025, in the Ada East District Assembly. The purpose was to confirm the President's nominee, Mr. Kenneth Kabu Kanor, as the District Chief Executive (DCE).

The statement highlighted that Mr. Kanor received 24 Yes votes and 14 No votes, with one vote rejected. This result indicated that he did not achieve the required two-thirds majority of votes cast.

The Council noted that there will be another ballot for the position, in line with Section 15(5) of the Model Standing Orders for District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Assemblies. The second round of voting for Mr. Kenneth Kabu Kanor's confirmation is scheduled to occur on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Ada East District Assembly Hall.
