Global Evangelical Church Members Undertake Road Maintenance at Akatsi

Akatsi: Members of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC), Shalom Chapel at Akatsi have embarked on a communal exercise to fill potholes on sections of the Akatsi-Ho road in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region. The exercise, carried out on Sunday, August 31, this year, after Church service, was led by the Parish Pastor, Reverend F.E.K. Dande, together with the leadership and other church members.

According to Ghana News Agency, the team applied laterite to seal dangerous potholes along the stretch from the National Commission for Civic Education office to Gadzekpo, to ease the plight of motorists and commuters. The stretch of the road had deteriorated significantly, posing great risks to human lives and property, particularly during the rainy season.

Mr. Wonder Gatepe, the Assembly Member for the area, commended the church for the intervention, describing it as an exemplary act of social responsibility and community service. He said such efforts complemented the government's development agenda and called on other churches and groups to emulate.

Rev. Dande lauded his members for their active participation in the exercise and urged other citizens to contribute to community development initiatives, while appealing to the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly and central government to undertake lasting rehabilitation works on the road. He said the initiative reflected the church's commitment to holistic service, beyond spiritual guidance to improving the living conditions of its community.

The Church leadership expressed the hope that the action would draw urgent attention from relevant authorities to address the poor state of the Akatsi-Ho road.
