GJA Election Takes Off Smoothly in Takoradi

Takoradi: The national and regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) election has commenced smoothly at the Takoradi Press Centre, designated as the Western Regional voting centre.

According to Ghana News Agency, a total of 20 registered voters are expected to participate in the election to choose the next National and Western Regional executives of the GJA. The election process is being supervised by officials from the Western Region Electoral Commission (EC), with a representative from the GJA also present to monitor the proceedings.

When the Ghana News Agency visited the voting centre at 10:10 AM, they observed that the election was progressing steadily, with seven individuals having already cast their votes. Mr. George Folley, a voter who spoke to the GNA after voting, expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the process and hoped it would continue without issues until the polls closed.

Mr. Folley noted, "I am particularly happy about how this year's GJA election has taken a national dimension because in the past editions, people did not show much interest in electing both national and regional GJA executives." He encouraged his colleagues to turn up and elect the new set of executives to lead the Association for the next three years.

The voting started promptly at 8:00 AM and is scheduled to conclude at 3:00 PM. Meanwhile, in the Western Region, all executive positions are uncontested.
