GFA Announces Return of GPL After Brief Hiatus

Accra: The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the restart of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) following a brief pause: The 2024-25 GPL will restart on Friday, March 7, to Monday, March 10, 2025, with clubs fulfilling their matchday 23 games.

According to Ghana News Agency, the GFA stated that the league's return was subject to a safety and security assurance examination of all venues, which is now being conducted by the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation. With the training of stakeholders on the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025, a document originated mainly from clubs, the Football Association has announced the return of Premier League football following widespread engagement with all relevant stakeholders.

The outstanding Premier League fixtures for Matchday 20, 21, and 22 have also been announced by the Football Association. The fixtures for Matchday 20 have been fixed for Tuesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 20. Matchday 21 will take place across approved venues on Tuesday, April 1, to Thursday, April 3, with Matchday 22 fixtures slated for Tuesday, April 15, to Thursday, April 17, 2025, a statement on GFA's website said.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko would take on Sekondi Eleven Wise in an outstanding MTN FA Cup match on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The GFA encouraged the full cooperation of all relevant stakeholders, including the Ghana Police Service, in maintaining safety and security at all match venues as they look forward to an exciting continuation of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League season.
