Tarkwa: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly impersonating Ghana Gold Board Taskforce officials and extorting money from gold dealers. The suspects, Foster Delord, aged 40, and Prince Worvi, aged 38, both of whom claimed to be ex-military personnel, were apprehended by the Western Central Region Police Command following reports that they had been visiting various gold dealers under false pretences.
According to Ghana News Agency, the police press release mentioned that exhibits retrieved from the suspects include one handcuff, a canister of pepper spray, an electric shocker, a set of uniform, and cash amounting to GHC500.00. The suspects have been put before the Tarkwa circuit court and remanded into police custody pending further investigation.
The Regional Police Command advised the public to be wary of individuals posing as government officials without proper identification.
