Adaklu waya: Madam Stella Vidzro, Adaklu District Environmental Health Officer, has issued a passionate appeal to residents of the district to observe proper sanitation and hygiene practices during the ongoing rainy season. Speaking in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Adaklu Waya, Madam Vidzro emphasized that the call was necessary due to the resurgence of cholera and COVID-19 cases in parts of the country.
According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Vidzro stressed the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent flooding and the outbreak of communicable diseases. She advised residents to regularly weed their surroundings to reduce mosquito breeding. She urged all to clear stagnant water in and around homes, warning that bushy environments often harbor reptiles that pose a danger to the public.
She reiterated the need to eliminate open defecation, describing it as a harmful practice that pollutes the environment and spreads diseases. Madam Vidzro also appealed to individuals living in weak and unsafe structures to vacate them to safeguard their lives during the rainy season.
Furthermore, she called on Assembly members, traditional authorities, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to support the enforcement of sanitation by-laws within their communities to promote public health and safety.
