Effia-kwesimintsim: The Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) in the Western Region has declared Saturday, September 6, 2025, as Municipal Sanitation Day to undertake a clean-up exercise across the municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, the exercise, themed 'Operation Clean Your Frontage,' aims to mobilize residents, shop owners, and businesses to clean their frontages to promote a cleaner environment across the municipality. A statement signed by Mr. Nat Andoh, the Public Relations Officer for EKMA, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the government's commitment to improving environmental cleanliness and promoting sustainable waste management.
The statement highlighted that the move supports the government's 'Clean Up Ghana' policy, which seeks to encourage a collaborative and responsible approach to environmental sanitation across the country. To ensure effective participation, the Assembly announced that the exercise is compulsory, requiring all shops and offices to close from 0600 hours to 1000 hours on the designated day to allow residents to participate fully.
The statement concluded by urging all stakeholders, residents, and business operators to cooperate in making the exercise a success.
