Lizard island: A cruise passenger was accidentally left behind during a shore excursion on an island in Australia's Great Barrier Reef and has been reported dead.
According to Ghana News Agency, the 80-year-old passenger was onboard the Coral Adventurer and had participated in a group hike on Lizard Island organized by the cruise operator. During the hike, the woman informed the group that she could not continue and would return to the ship independently. Unfortunately, the ship sailed without realizing she had not returned.
Hours passed before it was noticed that the woman was missing from the ship. Once discovered, the ship turned back, and she was officially reported missing. Authorities launched a search on Saturday evening, which extended into the night. Tragically, she was found dead on Sunday.
The police have described the woman's death as 'sudden and not suspicious.' The report from ABC News did not provide further details regarding the cause of death.
