Court Denies Bail to Agradaa Pending Her Conviction Appeal

Accra: The Amasaman High Court has refused to grant Patricia Asiedua, also known as Agradaa, bail, in view of her pending appeal against her 15-year jail term. The Court directed the defence counsel to ensure that processes from the Circuit Court are made available in relation to the substantive appeal. The State has reportedly filed objections to the bail application.

According to Ghana News Agency, Agradaa, a former fetish priest turned evangelist, was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment by the Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Mrs. Evelyn Asamoah, on July 3, 2025. She was convicted on charges of engaging in charlatanic advertisement and two counts of defrauding by false pretences, following a trial that began in October 2023. Her legal team has filed an appeal against the conviction and sentence, describing the punishment as harsh and excessive.
