Peki: Churchill and Friends, a non-governmental organization based in Peki, has donated educational materials to schoolchildren in Peki, located in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region. The organization provided pens, pencils, exercise books, notebooks, and school bags to pupils in recognition of their excellent performance in recent term examinations.
According to Ghana News Agency, the beneficiaries were chosen from schools in Peki-Dzogbati, Blengo, Wudome, and Tsame. Mr. Churchill Oforikumah, the Assembly Member for Peki-Dzogbati and founder of Churchill and Friends, expressed the organization's commitment to supporting education in the region to ensure no child is left behind. He emphasized that the group was established to aid especially bright but financially disadvantaged students.
Mr. Oforikumah highlighted the efforts of parents in striving to provide quality education for their children, despite facing financial constraints. He urged benevolent organizations and philanthropists to assist parents by supplying essential educational materials. The donated materials aim to inspire learners, enhance their enthusiasm for studying, and improve their academic performance.
The founder revealed plans to utilize allowances promised to Assembly Members by the government to further support brilliant but needy students, urging the government to expedite these payments. He encouraged students to dedicate significant time to reading and concentrating on their studies to gain the necessary knowledge to benefit themselves, society, and the nation.
Mr. Oforikumah also appealed to generous Ghanaians to help elevate the organization in fulfilling educational needs for children, who represent the nation's future leaders.
