Accra: Christians have been urged to demonstrate the power of the resurrection in every aspect of their lives as a living testimony of Christ’s victory over sin and death. Reverend Atta Okyere, Senior Pastor of City Baptist Church, delivering the Easter Sunday sermon in Accra, emphasised the ever-present reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, to be lived out daily, saying: ‘It is not merely a historical event.’
According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. Okyere highlighted the significance of Christ’s resurrection as the ultimate sign of God’s power, urging believers to reflect this power in overcoming personal weaknesses and embodying holiness in their conduct. He outlined three key manifestations of resurrection power for believers: Victory over sin, Fruitful relationships and work, and Unwavering hope in trials.
Rev. Okyere explained that just as Christ, who bore the world’s sin, was raised to newness of life, Christians too must overcome sinful habits and attitudes. ‘We have been imputed with righteousness through His death and resurrection,’ he said, urging the congregants to pursue a life of purity and integrity.
Touching on fruitful relationships and work, Rev. Okyere stated that the new life granted at the resurrection should transform all spheres of existence, including family, friendships, and the workplace. He challenged believers to let their faith shine through acts of service, reconciliation, and excellence, thereby pointing others to the hope found in Christ.
Rev. Okyere also urged Christians to maintain unwavering hope in trials and stand firm in adversity, as the resurrection guarantees eternal life and unending hope. ‘No life surrendered to Jesus Christ goes to waste,’ he reminded the worshippers, insisting that every challenge was an opportunity to exhibit the power of the risen Lord.
He encouraged the church to be bold in proclaiming the gospel, living in such a way that ‘those around us will clearly see the benefits of Christ’s finished work on the cross.’
