Bono: The Bono Regional Police Command is investigating the tragic murder of a private security man at Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality. The deceased, Akwasi Addai, believed to be in his 60s, was allegedly murdered by armed robbers who attacked a filling station in the town.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer, and made available to the media in Sunyani, said the incident happened on Tuesday, October 6, 2025, at the Abesim Frimps Filling station. The Police found the deceased's lifeless body on a porch near a shop at the pump with visible head injuries.
The statement revealed that the armed robbers stormed the filling station, broke into one of the offices used for electricity power credit sales and mobile money transactions, and made away with undisclosed sums of money. The robbers also ransacked the office of the manager of the pump and attempted to force-open a safe. A crime scene management team visited the location and retrieved an axe and a club, both stained with blood.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The Police have intensified efforts to apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice.
