Atebubu/Amantin MCE Encourages Schools to Promote Cultural Values

Atebubu: Mr Thomas Masud Ayarba, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono East Region, has urged Basic Schools to do more and instil cultural and traditional values in the minds of school children. He emphasized that culture and tradition reflect the true identity of the people and play a vital role in shaping the mindset of children, thereby helping to mould them into more responsible individuals.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ayarba shared his advice during the inter-zonal culture fiesta for basic schools, organized by the Culture Department of the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Directorate of Education at Atebubu. The event was themed 'The role of culture in strengthening peace and unity in Ghana' and aimed to select finalists for the upcoming inter-districts culture competition for Basic Schools to be held at Techiman, the Bono Regional capital.

Mr Ayarba reiterated the Assembly's commitment to support and preserve the diverse cultural heritage of the people, highlighting the responsibility of Basic Schools to promote cultural activities. He praised the education directorate for organizing the event and encouraged teachers to prepare their schools adequately to participate and excel in the district competition.

Mr Isaac Budu, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Director of Education, also commended the event organizers and applauded the active participation of both public and private schools. Meanwhile, Mr Felix Acheampong, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Cultural Coordinator, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support, while noting the culture department's need for financial and logistical support to further promote cultural activities.

The participating basic schools showcased their talents in various activities, including choral music, poetry recitals, drum language, drama and dance, sight singing, sewing, and cooking, among others.
