Assin North DCE Visits Schools to Celebrate ‘My First Day at School’

Accra: Mr. Sylvester Amakye, District Chief Executive for Assin North, visited four basic schools in the district to commemorate this year's 'My First Day at School' at the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year. The initiative, observed across the nation, aims to welcome newly enrolled pupils of public basic schools, helping them adjust to their new environment.

According to Ghana News Agency, the schools Mr. Amakye visited included Assin Kushea Presbyterian Basic School, Assin Kushea Anglican Basic School, Assin Kyiano Basic School, and Assin Asempanaye Catholic Basic School. During his visit, Mr. Amakye distributed pencils, exercise books, sharpeners, erasers, soft drinks, and biscuits to the pupils to help them feel welcomed. Additionally, he donated seven hexagonal tables and 42 chairs to some of the schools to support teaching and learning at the kindergarten level.

Highlighting the role of education in national development, Mr. Amakye emphasized that children must be equipped with knowledge, skills, and aptitude to compete on a global scale. He reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening the educational system and urged parents to enroll their children and ensure they remain in school for a promising future.

Mr. Ahmed Tijani Hassan, District Director of Education, praised the DCE for his contributions and encouraged school authorities to handle the donated items with care.
