Amlakpo Assembly Member Organises Free Medical Screening for Residents

Amlakpo: Dr Michael Naami, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Gifted Ear and Eye Ghana, has called on the public to take proactive measures in maintaining eye and ear health to prevent infections.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Naami's remarks came during a free health screening exercise for Amlakpo residents, organized by Mr Robert Atitianti, the local assembly member, in collaboration with Gifted Ear and Eye Ghana. Dr Naami expressed concern about the prevalence of eye and ear infections found among the participants and highlighted a worrying trend of young individuals unknowingly having early-stage issues.

Dr Naami identified exposure to dust from unpaved roads as a significant factor contributing to these infections. He demonstrated proper ear care techniques and emphasized the protective role of earwax, advising residents to seek professional medical care when necessary. The screening revealed critical cases, including a 16-year-old girl with a bead lodged in her ear, which was safely removed using a camera.

Furthermore, Dr Naami noted that the screening allowed some individuals who previously missed surgery appointments to register for free surgical procedures planned for September and October. This initiative aims to alleviate financial and psychological barriers that prevented them from receiving necessary medical attention.

Mr Atitianti stated that the screening initiative was part of his ongoing commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of his constituents. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude towards the assembly member and the medical team for their support and intervention.
