Accra: Mr Ernest Yaw Kumi, the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Akwatia, has died. The announcement was made on the floor of Parliament, where the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, confirmed Mr Kumi's passing during Monday's proceedings.
According to Ghana News Agency, the House observed a minute of silence to honor the late MP. Mr Kumi was serving his first term in Parliament, marking a brief but impactful political career.
In light of the news, the First Deputy Speaker, Mr Bernard Ahiafor, has announced that the House will reconvene on Tuesday at 1400 hours.
