Agyakaamanso Chief Urges Government to Address Critical Road Conditions

Wassa Agyakaamanso: Nana Adarkwah Yiadom II, the Chief of Wassa Agyakaamanso in the Amenfi Central District of the Western Region, has made a public appeal to the government for urgent rehabilitation of the area's deteriorating roads to boost socioeconomic activities.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Chief highlighted that the poor condition of the roads is the primary challenge affecting social and economic activities in communities such as Agyakaamanso, Sefwi Bekwai, Juabo, Nkwanta Number 1 and 2, Sraha, Ankwaaso, and Agona Amenfi. He stated that all commercial activities, including farming, are severely impacted due to the inadequate road network.

Nana Adarkwah II further explained that the arrival of the rainy season has exacerbated the difficulties faced by road users in these communities. Drivers have expressed their frustration over the increased maintenance costs caused by the damage to vehicles due to the poor road conditions.

The Chief remarked, "The current condition of roads in the areas are beyond deplorable, rendering it almost unusable and negating the economic and social benefits it should provide." He also noted a rise in accidents, attributing them to tire bursts and vehicle collisions as drivers attempt to avoid potholes.

Efforts by the traditional authorities to bring this issue to the attention of government officials, Members of Parliament, and other stakeholders have so far been unsuccessful. Consequently, Nana Adarkwah II is calling for immediate action from the government and the local Member of Parliament to repair the roads, which would foster socio-economic development and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Agyakaamanso.
