Accra: The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has taken delivery of water pumping machines that were confiscated from galamsey sites located within the Akyempim and Tarkwa areas in the Western Region. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Opoku Gyemfi, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, confirmed the arrival of the machines and mentioned that the Ministry was anticipating a total of five trucks. "The trucks are five I'm told and I just saw two. The water pumping machines are actually for the Agric Ministry, I mean MoFA. I am yet to get the full briefing and will adequately inform you about the machines," he stated.

Earlier, Mr. Stephen Asiedu, Deputy Public Relations Officer at the Ministry, indicated that the machines would be distributed to farmers to assist with their irrigation needs. An anonymous official informed the GNA that the machines were moved from Golden Star (Wassa) Akyempim to the Ministry. The official mentioned, "The Golden Star Removal Permit document I have sighted recorded 755 pieces of the water pumping machines but I cannot tell if all were loaded in the two trucks."
