Accra: Mr Kwame Baffoe, known as Abronye and the Chairman of the Bono Region New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been granted a GHS50,000 bail by an Accra Circuit Court. This decision followed an application for the abridgement of time filed by his lawyer, Daniel Nii Martey Addo, concerning the next adjourned date, which was initially set for September 19, 2025.
According to Ghana News Agency, the defence counsel argued that the adjournment needed to be brought forward due to Baffoe's health condition. The court observed that the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer, did not contest the defence's request, leading to Baffoe being granted bail, although he was not present in court. The bail comes with the condition of one surety.
Additionally, the court has instructed Baffoe to report to the Police once a week, specifically on Wednesdays. Baffoe has entered a plea of not guilty to charges of publishing false news and engaging in offensive conduct likely to breach the peace. The case is now scheduled to resume on October 7, 2025.
