50-Day Ceasefire Deadline in Ukraine May Be Shortened: Trump

Accra: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is 'very disappointed' with Russian President Vladimir Putin and is contemplating shortening the 50-day deadline he had previously established for a ceasefire deal in Ukraine. Trump made these comments just before engaging in discussions with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland.

According to Ghana News Agency, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction and hinted at a possible revision of the timeline he set earlier. In a conversation with reporters before entering the meeting, Trump stated, "We're going to have to look. I'm going to reduce the 50 days . because I think I already know the answer." This indicates a potential acceleration in the timeline for reaching a ceasefire agreement.

Earlier in the month, Trump had warned of imposing 'very severe' tariffs on Russia if a ceasefire agreement was not achieved within the initial 50-day period. This latest development suggests an increasing urgency and pressure from the U.S. administration to resolve the conflict in Ukraine promptly.
