Aflao: Mr. Saviour Mawuena Kofi Ahiati, Zonal Head and Chairman of the Aflao Chapter of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MoMAG), has strongly encouraged all mobile money (MoMo) agents to become members of the association to bolster their safety and security.
According to Ghana News Agency, during a stakeholder engagement with MoMo agents in Dzodze, Ketu North Municipality, Mr. Ahiati highlighted that membership in MoMAG equips agents with crucial knowledge and resources to prevent robbery and other security threats. He stated, "The group consistently provides members with safety tips and education on best practices for handling their business. In addition to security training, we offer personal benefits such as insurance packages to support members in times of need."
Mr. Friday Henyo Abednego, MoMAG's Volta Regional Representative, also advised agents to close their shops by 1800 hours to reduce their risk of criminal attacks. Meanwhile, Mr. Edward Ofori Agyemang, National President of MoMAG, noted that the group is awaiting engagement with the Minister for the Interior and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to discuss concrete measures to address the recent surge in attacks and killings of MoMo agents across the country.
MoMAG remains committed to advocating for stronger collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of all mobile money agents nationwide.
