Accra: Mr. Daniel Hamenu, Volta Regional Director of the Youth Employment Authority, has urged young people between the ages of 18 and 35 to take advantage of the Authority's free job placement programmes. 'Youths form the majority of our national workforce, and it is important that we create employable opportunities that meet their needs,' Mr. Hamenu stated.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Youth Employment Authority (YEA) has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling unemployment in Ghana by introducing new job creation modules and expanding existing ones to benefit the country's growing youth population. Mr. Hamenu commended his superiors, predecessors, and all stakeholders who have contributed to the progress of the Youth Employment Authority since its establishment. 'The Authority has been in existence for some time now, and I must commend the hardworking leaders who have built and sustained this initiative,' he said.
Mr. Hamenu outlined several modules currently in operation under YEA, including traditional public service placements with the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Prisons Service, and the Community Protection Assistants (CPA) scheme. He revealed that new modules, including Immigration Assistants and Community Paramedics, have been added to address emerging employment demands and essential service gaps. 'Our paramedics module, for example, will see trained personnel deployed to community health centers and CHPS compounds to support healthcare delivery,' he noted.
Details of the new modules, including recruitment procedures and deployment schedules, would be officially announced during a national launch event soon, he added. Mr. Hamenu emphasized that all YEA recruitment processes were entirely free of charge and cautioned the public against dealing with middlemen or paying unofficial fees. 'The process is open, transparent, and free. I urge the public to avoid middlemen and report any fraudulent activity immediately,' he warned.
Another significant addition to the Authority's programmes is the Work-at-Home module, which allows beneficiaries to earn income while working remotely. 'We have allocated 600 slots under this programme, and it is completely free for all qualified applicants,' Mr. Hamenu announced.
The Regional Director also mentioned YEA's growing partnerships with private entities to facilitate Work Abroad opportunities for Ghanaian youth. He indicated that these collaborations would create further avenues for sustainable employment both locally and internationally.
Mr. Hamenu said the Authority would continue to innovate and introduce relevant modules to reduce youth unemployment in the country. 'Our goal is to ensure that every youth has access to decent work opportunities. Together, we can create a job for all,' he said. He called on young people to stay informed through official YEA channels and participate actively in upcoming recruitment exercises to secure these life-changing opportunities.
