Western North Regional Fire Service Promotes Fire Safety During Annual Safety Week

Wiawso: The Western North Regional Fire Service command has celebrated this year's safety week with a series of educational outreach programmes geared towards the prevention of fire incidents at homes and other public places. The celebration was under the theme: 'Fire Safety: A Pillar of National Development and Foundation of our Security.'

According to Ghana News Agency, the event featured fire safety education in churches, mosques, a float through the principal streets of Wiawso, media engagement, and educational sessions in markets and lorry parks. Assistant Chief Fire Officer 1 and Regional Commander, Mr. Philip Kudzo Amagnoh, emphasized that fire safety is a shared responsibility. The service conducts these activities annually to protect property and human lives, contributing to national and economic development.

Mr. Amagnoh urged traditional and religious leaders to educate their communities on fire safety protocols to help reduce fire incidents in the region. He also advised residents against charging phones while asleep, as overcharging or power fluctuations could lead to fires.

The Regional Commander appealed to the government for additional fire engines to enhance firefighting capabilities in the region. He noted that, despite the age of current engines, they are being used optimally to manage fire outbreaks. Mr. Amagnoh also called on individuals and organizations to support the service with vehicles and motorbikes to facilitate public education efforts.
