Heilongjiang: A wild and well-known Siberian tiger was recently seen in the Dongning section of the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, according to the provincial ecology and environment department.
According to Ghana News Agency, the male tiger first gained attention when he entered a village in the Heilongjiang city of Mishan in 2021 at the age of three. After being rescued and cared for, he was released back into the wild. Staff from the park's Dongning section have recently confirmed the tiger's stable and continuous activity in the region through the use of infrared cameras and integrated ground-air monitoring systems.
Since his release four years ago, the tiger has roamed across a vast territory. Wu Dianfeng, director of the natural ecological protection office at the provincial ecology and environment department, reported that the tiger's range has extended over China's Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces, and even into Russia. Wu further confirmed that the tiger is in good health and has adapted well to life in the wild.
The Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park, established in October 2021, covers an area of 14,100 square kilometers and spans northeast China's Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces. It now shelters approximately 70 wild Siberian tigers and about 80 Amur leopards.
