Bakpa: The Volta Young Chiefs and Queens have extended their heartfelt gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as the Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs.

According to Ghana News Agency, the appointment is considered well-deserved by the group, reflecting Mr. Ablakwa's dedication, competence, and impressive track record of service to the nation. Torgbui Komla Sakpiti V, leader of the group, expressed these sentiments during a meeting held at Bakpa in the Central Tongu District. He commended President Mahama for showing confidence in the Volta Region by appointing three ministers and other officials from the region, in addition to the Regional Minister.

The group acknowledged Mr. Ablakwa's exemplary leadership, even during his time in opposition, highlighting his relentless efforts to hold the previous NPP government accountable. They emphasized his remarkable development initiatives in the North Tongu Constituency as a clear demonstration of his commitment to the welfare of his people.

Furthermore, they praised Mr. Ablakwa's exceptional handling of critical situations, including his leadership during the Akosombo Dam spillage, which displaced thousands of Tongu residents, and his innovative responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. His initiatives during the pandemic included organizing virtual classes for school children and providing financial support to private school teachers.

Torgbui Sakpiti remarked, "Hon. Ablakwa's appointment comes as no surprise to us. His track record of leadership and service speaks volumes, and we are confident he will excel as the Minister for Foreign Affairs." The group further urged Mr. Ablakwa and other appointees from the region to work diligently to elevate the Volta Region's image and spearhead its development.

This endorsement from the Volta Young Chiefs and Queens reflects the strong support and admiration for Mr. Ablakwa within the region's traditional leadership.
