Accra: Dozens of local and foreign tourists embarked on the highly anticipated 'Volta Rave' journey over the weekend to explore the diverse natural eco-tourism beauty of the Volta Region.According to Ghana News Agency, the 'Volta Rave' initiative spearheaded by the Ghana Travel Club, a movement of passionate explorers, witnessed some great moments and unforgettable memories for patrons at various tourist sites. From Accra to Amedzofe, through Ho to the sands of Keta, across borders to Lomé in Togo, and along the calm waters of the Volta River in Sogakope and back to Accra, tourists were left stunned with adventure opportunities.The bonfires and traditional boborbor dances, live musical performances, games, aerobics, and feasting on local delicacies provided unforgettable experiences for everybody. The nerve-racking moments of the Volta Rave occurred in the Gemi Mountains, where guests had to settle their fears before hiking through the canopy walkway, which created excitement at the scene.They also expe rienced the pleasure of the Keta Eli Beach Resort before visiting Woe's St Paul Lighthouse, built in 1802, and Fort Prinzenstein in Keta, built in 1784. Tourists learnt about the relics of the colonial era and the role these forts contributed to the slave trade era.Mr Kofi Opandoh, the leader of the Ghana Travel Club, thanked patrons for embarking on this historic journey to the Volta Region and promised more adventurous visits in other regions. 'We want to thank all who supported the Volta Rave as we promote domestic tourism, and it is our dream to organise more of these in the near future across the country,' he said.Maame Efua Houadjeto, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), commended the Ghana Travel Club for this initiative targeted at boosting local tourism. She said these tourism initiatives would be key in developing domestic tourism and showcasing the rich cultural offerings of Ghana.Mr Michael Abbiw, President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), encouraged professiona ls who participated in the tourism adventure to use the platform to network and form partnerships. This, he believes, would create more opportunities that would be beneficial to all and also help in the development of domestic tourism.This year's rave was also powered in partnership with Kaya Tours Ghana Limited, Koppan Hospitality, and CIMG and supported by the GTA.
