Upper East Regional Hospital Plans Mass Burial for Unclaimed Bodies

Accra: The Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga is preparing to conduct a mass burial for unclaimed unknown bodies currently stored in its morgue. This decision comes as the hospital seeks to manage the morgue's capacity and maintain health and safety standards.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement from the Regional Police Command, signed by Chief Inspector Abdul Rahman Sumaila, the Public Relations Officer, announced the hospital's intention to proceed with the disposal of the unclaimed bodies. The statement urged members of the public to visit the hospital to identify any deceased relatives before the mass burial takes place.

The police statement also emphasized the importance of carrying a valid national identification card to facilitate easy identification in case of any unfortunate incident. Residents have been urged to treat this announcement with urgency and collaborate with hospital authorities to ensure that deceased individuals are properly identified and returned to their families for burial.
