Two Nursing Mothers and Six Pregnant Teenagers Sit for BECE in Sissala East

Sissala East: Two nursing mothers and six pregnant teenagers are among the 1,295 students currently participating in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) within the Sissala East Municipality.

According to Ghana News Agency, the examination proceedings, which include a mix of unique personal circumstances among candidates, are being closely monitored. Mr. Cornelius Longyintuo, the Examination Officer for Sissala East Municipality, provided insights during a visit to one of the examination centers. He reported that the total number of pupils expected to take the exams is 1,295, comprising 530 males and 765 females. Unfortunately, six students were absent, including three girls and three boys who had dropped out of school, with one girl reportedly married off.

The exams are being conducted at three centers: Kanton Senior High School and Tumu Senior High Technical School, supported by 44 invigilators and security personnel to ensure smooth proceedings. Mr. Lewil Charles, the Municipal Director of Education, urged students to adhere to examination rules and encouraged them to perform to the best of their abilities.

ASP Johnson Adusei Poku, the Municipal Police Commander, announced his commitment to sponsor the best male and female candidates with full scholarships to further their education at the senior high school level. He also assured his presence throughout the week to oversee the examination process.

Additionally, Mr. Issah Mohammed Bataglia, the Member of Parliament for Sissala East, along with Mr. Adamu Yakubu, the Municipal Chief Executive, revealed that candidates would receive meals during the exam period to aid their concentration. The MP also distributed mathematical sets and pens to all students and pledged full scholarships for the top 10 students in the municipality for their entire senior high school education, encouraging them to strive for success and a promising future.

In total, 64 junior high schools from across the Sissala East Municipality are participating in the BECE this year.
