Tema: The Tema West Municipal Assembly has called on companies and factories operating within the municipality to collaborate with the assembly to develop the area. Mr. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive, made this call during a tour of several companies within the region. He emphasized that partnering with one another would bring the necessary development to the municipality.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Totimeh, along with officials from the assembly, visited Kasapreko Company Limited, Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, Wilma Africa Limited, Dangote Cement, and Coca-Cola, among others. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize himself with the operations of these companies and establish a partnership aimed at achieving common developmental goals.
Mr. Totimeh highlighted the importance of companies contributing resources to improve infrastructure, particularly roads leading to their factories, which endure heavy usage from trucks and other vehicles. While acknowledging that some companies have already made improvements, he stressed the need for continued collaboration to enhance road conditions and other developmental aspects, benefiting everyone involved.
He proposed forming partnerships with companies instead of the traditional approach of merely collecting rates and bills, suggesting a mutually beneficial relationship. During the tour, companies expressed enthusiasm and shared concerns, which Mr. Totimeh hopes will foster growth and demonstrate the assembly's commitment to serving the business community beyond revenue collection.
The MCE clarified that the relationship between the assembly and companies should not be viewed as hierarchical but rather as a partnership aimed at enhancing Tema West. He also addressed security concerns raised by the companies, revealing plans by the TWMA to install lighting systems in secluded areas to deter criminal activities.
The management of Kasapreko expressed appreciation for the partnership initiative and assured continued communication with the assembly following the tour.
