Twifo hemang: Otumfo Amoah Sasereku IV, the Omanhene of the Twifoman Traditional Area, has called upon his fellow traditional leaders to protect school lands from illegal activities, such as galamsey and sand winning.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Omanhene emphasized the necessity for developers to refrain from encroaching on school lands and underscored the importance of preserving these lands for future expansion. Speaking at the 10th Anniversary and Speech and Prize Giving Day of Twifo Hemang Senior High Technical School, he highlighted the critical role of education in the social and economic development of communities and the nation at large.
The event, themed 'Sustaining Quality, Historic and Purposeful Secondary Technical Education: The Role of Stakeholders,' stressed the urgent requirement for improved educational infrastructure. Otumfo Amoah Sasereku pledged to safeguard the interests of Twifo Hemang Senior High Technical School lands for future generations and encouraged all stakeholders to support this vision, ensuring the school's environment remains conducive for teaching and learning.
The Headmistress, Mrs. Augustina Asamoah, appealed for support to expand the institution's critical resources, including dormitories, a laboratory, library, staff accommodation, and more. She highlighted the infrastructural shortfall as a significant challenge to students' academic success, noting that many students are forced to live off-campus due to insufficient accommodation.
Mrs. Asamoah urged the government and stakeholders, including NGOs, to prioritize the school's needs in their future planning and allocate resources to enhance academic performance. Meanwhile, Central Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Juliet Dufie Otamie, called on parents to actively support schools in addressing issues such as indiscipline and drug abuse among students.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira, Mr. Patrick Fiable, conveyed a message from the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Ekow Paninyin Okyere Aduamoah, assuring the gathering of a promising educational future for the people under the NDC administration.
