Accra: The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called on the management of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to embrace innovation and creativity as a means to attract more visitors and enhance public engagement with the legacy of Ghana's first President.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister emphasized the importance of reimagining Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's vision in ways that speak to contemporary audiences, while remaining true to the foundational values of independence, unity, and Pan-Africanism championed by Nkrumah. This call was made during a working meeting with Dr. Collins Rawlings Nunyoname, the Acting Executive Director of the Park, where updates on its current operations, challenges, and strategic development plans were discussed.
Madam Gomashie expressed her admiration for Dr. Nkrumah and his ideals, suggesting that there are creative ways to keep these ideals alive for future generations. She stated that the park should serve as a dynamic space where the spirit of the Black Star continues to inspire, rather than just a historical site.
Dr. Nunyoname briefed the Minister on efforts to modernize the park while preserving its historical significance. He outlined key challenges and proposed initiatives aimed at enhancing visitor experiences, such as immersive cultural experiences, interactive exhibits, and new revenue generation approaches aligned with the government's vision for a 24-hour economy. He also emphasized the park's potential as a cultural hub celebrating Ghanaian heritage, capable of attracting both local and international tourists year-round.
Madam Gomashie commended these initiatives and assured the Ministry's full support in transforming the park into a premier national attraction. She stressed the importance of positioning the park as a living symbol of Ghana's continuing journey, embodying the pride, resilience, and aspirations of its people.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to revitalizing the park as a site of national pride and global interest, where history meets innovation.
