Tourism Minister Inaugurates New NCC Board

Accra: Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has inaugurated the new governing board of the National Commission on Culture (NCC) in Accra. She charged the 12-member board to provide strategic leadership that aligned the Commission's activities with Ghana's national development agenda.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister emphasized the importance of the board's role in upholding the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and good governance, while effectively managing the Commission's limited resources. She highlighted the need for programmes and initiatives that are culturally enriching and responsive to socio-economic priorities.

Madam Gomashie urged the board to foster partnerships, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and promote innovation to enhance operational efficiency and national impact. She expressed confidence in the board's diverse expertise, noting that their contributions would be vital in reinforcing Ghana's cultural identity and advancing the creative economy.

The board comprises professionals and cultural advocates from various sectors, including academia, traditional leadership, creative arts, and public administration. Members include Mr. Wakefield Wisdom Ackuaku, Mr. Richard Baffour-Awuah, Ms. Bridget Mensah, Ms. Abena Annobea Asare, Mama Aflo-Vuiede II, Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, Ms. Gladys Boateng, Ms. Anna Kportufe, Ms. Edinam Korkor Atatsi, Ms. Mildred Ashley, Mr. Abdul-Samed Yakubu Gomda, and Ms. Adiza Baba-Issah.

The NCC is tasked with the promotion and preservation of Ghana's cultural heritage and the integration of culture into all aspects of national development.
