Accra: The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has taken a significant step towards improving education in the area by donating essential furniture to two basic schools within the metropolis.
According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Ebi Bright, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, presented the first batch of furniture to Community Eight Number One and Republic Road Schools. The donation included 15 chairs and six tables for teachers, along with 120 desks for pupils. Ms. Bright highlighted the poor state of school infrastructure in the metropolis and emphasized the TMA's commitment to addressing these issues.
She mentioned that the TMA is collaborating with the Ghana Education Trust Fund, the District Assembly's Common Fund, and other educational institutions to enhance school infrastructure. This collaborative effort aims to improve school buildings, many of which are currently in disrepair. Ms. Bright also called upon companies operating in the metropolis to contribute to educational initiatives as part of their corporate social responsibility, which would aid in delivering quality education to children.
Furthermore, Ms. Bright praised the education directorate for its advocacy efforts in prioritizing educational development within the region. Accepting the furniture on behalf of the schools, Madam Bernice Ofori, the Tema Metro Director of Education, assured that the furniture would be well-maintained to fulfill its intended purpose for years to come.
