Accra: Ms Ebi Bright, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has disclosed that she will engage the Tema Metropolitan Education Director on how to promote the teaching and learning of the Ga language in schools in the metropolis. Ms Bright was speaking at the launch of a self-help initiative by the education directorate to construct an ultramodern office complex to house the directorate, which has been operating from rented apartments scattered in the metropolis for the past 60 years of its existence.
According to Ghana News Agency, Ms Bright emphasized the pride residents of Tema take in learning the Ga language. She noted the importance of retaining the metropolis's original value to attract people, which includes fostering a strong cultural identity. Ms Bright highlighted the necessity of having a strong culture, beginning with language, and expressed the need for more Ga teachers along with potential incentives to support this initiative.
Ms Bright mentioned her intention to discuss with the directorate how to integrate more cultural elements into school curriculums.
