Tarkwa to Get Ultra-Modern Community Centre

Tarkwa: AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine has cut sod for the commencement of work on an ultra-modern community center, at Tarkwa in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality. The facility, which is estimated at a cost of 2.5 million dollars, has been entrusted to Bensat Company Limited and it is expected to be completed within 18 months. The building, when completed, would have a 2,000 sitting capacity, a children's playground and library, museum, offices, open sitting and eating areas, conference rooms, exhibition rooms, gym, and a changing room.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Abraham Osei Badu, the Acting Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, performed the sod cutting ceremony alongside Sheikh Issah Salifu Taylor, the Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency, and Nana Adu Panyin, the Chief of Mbease-Nsuta. Mr. Badu reiterated that the project would be a hub for education, empowerment, and opportunity, providing space for learning, innovation, and nurturing of talents. It would also host community gatherings, workshops, cultural events, and recreational activities that would bring people together and strengthen the social fabric of the municipality.

Mr. Badu highlighted the vision for a place where individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and interests can come together, building lasting relationships and working collaboratively to create a brighter future. He emphasized that for Iduapriem Mine, collaboration has always been a priority, and the project was a direct result of that belief. The company has worked closely with the Assembly, traditional authorities, and other relevant stakeholders to understand the needs and aspirations of the people.

Sheikh Issah Salifu Taylor expressed gratitude to the Mine for the initiative and appealed to his constituents to bury political differences and unite for the area's development. Alhaji Boffour Ahmed Haruna, the Municipal Coordinating Director for the Tarkwa Nsuaem Assembly, urged everyone to support the project to ensure its swift completion. Nana Adu Panyin appealed to the contractor to employ more youth from the area to address unemployment and to complete the project on schedule.
