Accra: The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has inaugurated a new branch in Spintex, Accra as part of its ongoing expansion efforts. This initiative aims to provide social protection services more conveniently to workers in this bustling industrial and business area, aiding them in situations of old age, permanent disability, death, or emigration.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Spintex branch is SSNIT's 52nd physical location across the nation. A 53rd branch is anticipated to open in Adentan, Accra by the end of May. Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney, Director-General of SSNIT, emphasized the organization's commitment to increasing accessibility and convenience for its beneficiaries. He highlighted Spintex as a dynamic and rapidly developing industrial hub, making it an ideal location for the new branch.
Mr. Biney also shared SSNIT's plans to advance digital innovations, complementing the current USSD, website, and mobile app offerings. This move aligns with the government's 24-hour economy initiative, aiming to provide continuous service. With the widespread use of Mobile Money (Momo) in Ghana, SSNIT is set to enhance its digital services, catering to the country's growing tech-savvy population.
As part of this strategy, SSNIT plans to launch its first virtual branch in the third quarter of the year. This virtual branch will provide users with access to various services at any time, with dedicated personnel ready to assist. Mr. Biney noted that although SSNIT has expanded to 52 branches, there remains a need to address service gaps in over 200 districts nationwide. Collaborations with financial institutions are being considered to bridge these gaps.
Mr. Philip Kofi Senyah, Acting General Manager of Operations at SSNIT, stated that the new branch would extend services to the public, including self-employed individuals in Spintex and surrounding areas. The Spintex branch is seen as a significant step towards enhancing convenience, accessibility, and customer experience for SSNIT's clientele.
